Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) is a non-invasive therapy approved by FDA for patients with refractory angina pectoris who are not fit for either coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) or revascularization because of their unsuitable health condition. 2.4 million people in the US estimated with Cardiovascular Disease (CAD) are not suitable candidates for bypass or Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI).  In such patients, EECP can prove to be an effective alternative (Holmes, 2002). EECP (Enhanced External Heart Counter Pulsation) therapy is a non-invasive therapy for CVD that uses three sets of cuffs (pneumatic cuffs) that are wrapped around the calves, thighs and hips of the therapist. The cuff is filled with air and then emptied according to a known cardiac cycle based on a computer-controlled ECG.

Awalnya badan saya membengkak, kaki bengkak, hingga berjalan pun sulit. Sampai akhirnya seluruh badan lemas dan harus opname di sebuah rumah sakit di Bekasi-Jakarta.

Setelah opname sebulan di rumah sakit, saya minta dipulangkan ke Jambi. Sesampainya di bandara, saya kembali terkulai lemas. Orang tua saya secepatnya mengantar saya kembali ke rumah sakit. (more…)
